Having received a gold medal at the Adelaide Hills Wine Show 2011, we though we should revisit this wine for the first time in a few months. The wine has now developed those secondary characteristics so loved by Pinot drinkers. As well as the overlay of strawberries we are now getting deeper more savoury fruit notes and flavours. The texture of the wine has improved, giving better balance between the tannins and alcohol. Integration has improved throughout the first year. This bodes well for the life of the wine.
Sidewood's 1st Pinot Noir
2010 was a classic vintage for the Adelaide Hills, with near perfect growing and harvesting conditions. This marvellous, cool climate wine, is a blend of a number of different, carefully selected, Pinot clones. Each vine was hand picked, and production was limited to 550 cases.
Matured in French oak for 12 months, the wine has a delightful nose, presenting plump cherries, red strawberries and pine needles, leading smoothly on to a mouth watering entry, sweet mid palate, and graceful length.
To be savoured and enjoyed on its own, or to enhance a meal or leaner meats such as chicken, turkey, game or lightly sauced pork.
A special wine not to be missed.
Drink now to enjoy the youthful flirtatiousness or carefully cellar for 8-10 years.
